LG Electronics launches AI-powered PuriCare water purifier with voice control

LG Electronics on Thursday launched the LG PuriCare AI water purifier with ice maker, a new addition to its PuriCare lineup featuring AI technology.

The new product allows users to dispense water and ice entirely by voice command, adjusting the amount and temperature without pressing any buttons. The hands-free design is especially convenient for users with food on their hands or for children who have difficulty operating buttons, the company said.

An AI personalization feature learns from usage over time. The purifier analyzes four weeks of dispensing data after initial use and suggests up to three customized dispensing options based on preferred water temperature and volume — tailored for situations such as brewing coffee or tea, cooking ramyun or preparing infant formula.

The product also serves as an AI home hub in the kitchen. Through voice commands, users can control home appliances registered on LG's ThinQ platform and receive news and weather updates powered by a large language model.

The new model retains the hygiene features of the PuriCare series. Its All Puri filter system removes nine types of heavy metals and eliminates 99.99 percent of norovirus. A high-temperature sterilization function automatically sanitizes the internal stainless-steel direct water pipe once a week.

LG Electronics also upgraded the purifier's convenience features. A cup-detection sensor prevents water or ice from dispensing when no cup or container is placed beneath the outlet. The front display has been enlarged from 4.3 inches to 6.8 inches.

"We will expand our water purifier lineup optimized for residential spaces and customer lifestyles, and deliver a more convenient customer experience through AI," said Kim Jae-il, head of the kitchen solutions division at LG Electronics' Home Solution business unit.
