Suwon promotes drone delivery service at national expo

Suwon announced Thursday that it participated in the 2026 6th Korea Drone and Urban Air Mobility Expo to promote its drone delivery service.

The expo, which opened Wednesday at Songdo Convensia in Incheon, runs through Saturday. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Incheon Metropolitan City, the event is the country's leading specialized expo showcasing the latest technology and policy in drones and urban air mobility. A total of 106 institutions and companies took part, presenting their future visions for the drone industry and a range of use cases.

The urban park-type drone delivery service is set to launch Aug. 1 in and around Gwanggyo Lake Park and Gwanggyo Reservoir.

The service will deliver convenience items — including bottled water, beverages and snacks — to residents and tourists.

The expo also features a conference on global drone industry trends and urban air mobility policy, along with exhibitions including a special drone pavilion, a public services pavilion and an overseas drone technology pavilion. Side events include hands-on programs such as drone soccer, drone basketball and flight simulators, as well as a K-Drone Festival.
