Seongnam to hold festival marking 3rd anniversary of single-person household support center

Seongnam city will hold a festival featuring performances, lectures, exhibitions and hands-on activities to mark the third anniversary of its "Healing Space" center for single-person households, the city announced Thursday.

The event runs from 10 a.m. on July 25 at the Seongnam Single-Person Household Healing Space and three youth startup shops along Dodam-gil in Seongnam-dong.

A ceremony marking the center's third anniversary will be held at 2 p.m. that day at the Healing Space, with about 150 people in attendance.

The ceremony will include a healing concert by the Seongnam City Symphony Orchestra and the Seongnam City Choir, a report on three years of the center's operations, and a special lecture titled "Five Love Languages for Singles."

A temporary exhibition on the first floor of the Healing Space will display more than 20 works — including activity photos, videos, and woodworking and ceramics pieces — produced by single-person household clubs.

Seven hands-on activity programs will also be offered.

Registration is open to single-person household residents of Seongnam, with 130 spots available across all programs. Applications close Wednesday and can be submitted through Baeumsup, Seongnam's integrated lifelong learning platform. Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Healing Space opened on July 18, 2023, to provide policy support for single-person households — which account for 35.1 percent of Seongnam's total 383,004 households, or 134,409 households.

Visitor numbers grew from 2,320 in 2024 to 5,659 last year.

The center is open to anyone between the ages of 19 and 75 who lives alone and resides in Seongnam or works or studies in the city.
