The Kospi, which surged Wednesday to reclaim the 7,000 level, fell more than 4 percent in early trading Thursday, sliding back below that threshold. The Kosdaq also weakened, declining more than 2 percent.
According to Korea Exchange, the Kospi stood at 6,943.95 as of 9:02 a.m. Thursday, down 340.46 points (4.67 percent) from the previous session. The index had surged more than 6 percent Wednesday to reclaim the 7,000 mark, only to fall back below it a day later. It opened down 323.91 points (4.45 percent) at 6,960.50. At the same time, the Kosdaq was down 19.34 points (2.33 percent) at 810.09.
