An aging residential neighborhood north of Sincheon Elementary School in Incheon is set to be transformed into a large-scale branded residential complex of more than 1,300 units.
Incheon's Seohaegu district office announced Thursday that it has completed the formal designation of a redevelopment zone at 287-58 Sincheon-dong, putting the project on track for full-scale development.
The newly designated zone covers a dense cluster of deteriorated and substandard buildings north of Sincheon Elementary School, spanning a total area of 78,792.4 square meters.
The district plans to demolish all 366 existing structures in the zone and build a modern residential complex with convenient access to subway lines and major roads.
The new apartment complex will comprise 1,364 units in total, including 69 rental units.
Some 55,449.2 square meters — about 70 percent of the total site — will be set aside as residential land for the apartment buildings.
The remaining 23,343.2 square meters will be developed into shared infrastructure for residents and the surrounding community, including roads, parks and parking facilities.
With its legal status now secured, the Sincheon-dong redevelopment project will proceed through a series of administrative steps, including the formation of a preparatory committee, association approval and project implementation plan approval.
