Province links residents' voluntary giving to local communities, building a civic-participation ecosystem
South Chungcheong Province has launched an initiative to connect residents' voluntary donations to local communities, laying the groundwork for a civic-participation ecosystem.
The provincial government and the South Chungcheong Community Activation Center signed a memorandum of understanding Monday with the Pulppuri Hope Foundation on building and operating a donation platform to promote public-interest activities. The signing ceremony was held at Aurum, the South Chungcheong Communication and Cooperation Space at Onyang Oncheon Station.
The ceremony was attended by Kim Sang-rok, head of the province's community cooperation team; Kang Jeong-jin, acting director of the South Chungcheong Community Activation Center; and Park Seong-ho, chairman of the Pulppuri Hope Foundation. The event proceeded in order with a presentation of the donation platform's operating plan, a live demonstration of the platform and a walkthrough of the Aurum space.
Under the agreement, the three organizations will establish a donation platform inside the Aurum space and encourage residents to participate in giving, channeling funds toward public-interest activities including support for immigrant settlement and career guidance programs for youth.
Residents who wish to donate can do so via QR code or similar methods when using the cafe inside the Aurum space, contributing whatever amount they choose.
The Pulppuri Hope Foundation will manage donated funds transparently and direct them toward public-interest activities, helping to strengthen local communities across the province.
The province and the South Chungcheong Community Activation Center said they will actively support local communities in achieving sustainable development through the Aurum space.
Jeon Byeong-cheon, head of the saemaul community division, said the province would work to spread the "Chungcheong spirit" — rooted in loyalty, filial piety and propriety — through the new donation platform, ensuring the continuity of local communities and the realization of resident-led self-governance in South Chungcheong. "We will continue to actively pursue the formation and development of strong, safe local communities by spreading public-interest values," he added.
