YouTuber in his 50s dies after ingesting poison during live stream; viewer alerts authorities

A YouTuber in his 50s died after ingesting poison during a live broadcast.

Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, authorities received a report that a YouTuber identified only as A, in his 50s, had ingested poison while streaming live from Jaeun-myeon in Sinan-gun, South Jeolla Province.

Firefighters dispatched after a viewer called in the incident transported A to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest, but he did not survive.

A, a resident of Sinan-gun, had regularly run a personal broadcast channel focused on interacting with viewers.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances of his death.
