Marine mobility, safety technologies to converge at Busan expo in October

South Korea's marine mobility and maritime safety technologies will be brought together under one roof.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the city of Busan will host the 2026 Korea Marine Mobility and Safety Expo at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center from Oct. 26 to 28. Applications for exhibition participation and advance visitor registration open Friday on the event's official website.

Now in its ninth edition, the expo will be held in conjunction with the 2026 World Maritime Day commemorative event — co-hosted by the International Maritime Organization and South Korea — as well as Korea Maritime Week.

The venue will feature dedicated halls for smart autonomous navigation technology, eco-friendly mobility and carbon neutrality, and advanced maritime safety and AI disaster response. A business hall will host export consultations and technology briefings for domestic and international buyers, while a media tunnel will showcase the latest in marine technology and policy.

Oceans and Fisheries Minister Hwang Jong-woo said he hopes the expo will "widely promote the competitiveness of South Korea's marine mobility industry and the excellence of its maritime safety technology, and serve as an opportunity to support companies in expanding overseas."

Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo said he expects the expo to position Busan, as the nation's maritime capital, to "lead global standards in eco-friendly marine mobility and safety."
