A magnitude 2.6 earthquake struck an area 1 kilometer north of Yecheon-gun in North Gyeongsang Province at 3:47 a.m. Thursday.
The epicenter was located at 36.66 degrees north latitude and 128.44 degrees east longitude.
The quake occurred at a depth of 13 kilometers.
A Korea Meteorological Administration official said residents near the epicenter may have felt the tremor and urged the public to take safety precautions.
