SK Broadband wins Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency commendation for industrial accident prevention

SK Broadband announced Thursday that it received a commendation from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency president for its contributions to industrial accident prevention and the promotion of a workplace safety culture.

SK Broadband was the only pay-TV company to receive the award at the 2026 Seoul Industrial Safety and Health Month Ceremony, held Thursday at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The company was recognized for strengthening on-site safety management through public-private partnerships, achieving results in industrial accident prevention, and expanding safety culture initiatives.

SK Broadband has pursued industrial accident prevention through a dedicated safety and health team. In March, the company signed an MOU with the Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters and has been conducting ongoing safety training through fire safety system consulting at major worksites since May. The company is also set to participate in the Seoul Safety Festival, one of South Korea's leading safety culture events, in September.

SK Broadband has extended its safety and health efforts beyond its own worksites, partnering with public institutions to run citizen-participation contests and safety education programs, broadening its reach across society.

The ceremony, held to mark Industrial Safety and Health Month in July, also featured an awards presentation for the National Safety and Health Culture Promotion Contest, which SK Broadband has run since May to raise public awareness of safety.

SK Broadband co-hosted the contest with the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office under the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency's Seoul Metropolitan Headquarters. About 3,000 entries competed under the theme of the ministry's industrial accident prevention slogan: "My workplace safe, my life happier."

The student-category grand prize went to "Dad, come home safely today — our family's happiness," while the adult-category grand prize went to "The moment you let your guard down, your sweet everyday life shatters." Grand prize, excellence award and merit award winners took part in an industrial accident prevention pledge ceremony, followed by a lecture titled "Building a safe workplace through behavioral psychology."

The winning works — two grand prize entries, four excellence award entries and six merit award entries — will be displayed at the Seoul Safety Festival and used in safety culture education materials. They can be viewed on the Ministry of Interior and Safety's Sotong24 website.

Seong Jin-su, SK Broadband's chief safety and health officer, thanked all participants for joining the contest to highlight the importance of safety culture at home and in the workplace. "SK Broadband will continue to contribute to spreading safety culture through diverse public-private partnerships," he said.
