Bucheon launches bid to attract high-tech firms to Yeokgok district

Bucheon City is moving to attract leading companies to its Yeokgok public housing district, aiming to develop the area into a hub for advanced industries.

The city plans to leverage the district's strong access to Seoul and the broader metropolitan area to cluster high-tech firms there, creating quality jobs and boosting the local economy at the same time.

Bucheon will launch a public call Monday for candidates to be recommended as preferred companies for urban support facility sites in the Bucheon Yeokgok public housing district, kicking off the formal recruitment process.

The competition covers four plots within Support Block 1, with a combined area of 17,071 square meters. The sites sit roughly 300 meters from Kkachiul Station on subway Line 7 and about 1 kilometer from Bucheon Sports Complex Station, where Line 7 meets the West Coast Line, offering convenient access to Seoul and key areas across the greater metropolitan region.

Those transport links give the location a strong competitive edge for companies in terms of logistics and talent recruitment.

The city plans to evaluate applicants on their capacity to execute the project, financial soundness, the feasibility of their investment plans, and contributions to the local community, with preferred candidates to be selected in November.

Selected companies will then sign land purchase agreements with the project operators — Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and Bucheon Urban Corporation.
