American singer Katy Perry said Saturday that the White House's unauthorized use of her song in a video promoting the war against Iran was "unacceptable."
Perry posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying she "never approved this and was never separately asked," according to The Washington Post.
She said she felt "deep shock and fury" over the White House video, adding: "My music is meant to bring people together, not to glorify war."
The White House had posted a short video on its official TikTok account on Thursday using Perry's 2010 song "Firework" as background music. The clip showed bombs exploding in Iran timed to the part where Perry sings "Boom, boom, boom.".

Perry is also the partner of former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who has publicly clashed with US President Donald Trump on multiple occasions. She campaigned for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 US presidential election.
The White House did not respond to Perry's criticism. The video remains posted on the White House's official account.
