Cheongsong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province announced Monday that two new sports facilities — a park golf course in Jinbo-myeon's Jinan-ri and a golf driving range in Pacheon-myeon's Jungpyeong-ri — have officially opened this month and begun full operations.
The park golf course held its completion ceremony on June 23, then closed temporarily through July 31 to allow intensive turf management aimed at promoting early root establishment and improving grass density.
The driving range, completed July 10, successfully wrapped up a free trial period that ran from July 13 through July 31.
The driving range will operate from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the summer season (April through November) and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the winter season (December through March). The facility will be closed every Monday for regular maintenance and inspections.
To ease the financial burden on local residents, Cheongsong-gun residents will receive a discounted rate of about 20 percent off the standard fee. Veterans, those aged 65 and older, registered people with disabilities, basic livelihood security recipients, families with multiple children, and families with a distinguished military service record will receive a 50 percent reduction.
"We will do our utmost in managing and operating both facilities so they can become leading sports venues that not only promote the health of our residents but also enrich their quality of life," Cheongsong County Chief Yun Gyeong-hui said.
