A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck waters 39 kilometers south-southwest of Kumamoto city in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, at 7:59 a.m. Thursday (Korean Standard Time), the Korea Meteorological Administration said, citing foreign monitoring agencies.
The epicenter was located at 32.50 degrees north latitude and 130.50 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
