L&F marks 26th anniversary with '727 Hope Box' charity drive in Daegu

L&F, a secondary battery materials company, said Thursday it held a community donation campaign to mark its 26th founding anniversary on July 27, culminating in an official goods-donation ceremony at the Dalseo-gu district office in Daegu on Wednesday.

The campaign was organized in partnership with Dalseo-gu, where L&F's headquarters is located, to support vulnerable residents in the area. The company said the initiative drew on voluntary employee participation and was designed to extend the meaning of its founding anniversary into an act of community giving.

L&F collected donated items from employees alongside company-supplied goods to run the "727 Hope Box" campaign. The name draws from the company's founding date of July 27 and is meant to reflect gratitude and a commitment to growing alongside the local community.

Ahead of the ceremony, the company's in-house volunteer team handled the entire process — collecting, sorting, packing and loading the donated items. Each kit contained seven daily essentials, including ramyun and laundry detergent. The packages were presented at an official ceremony attended by the Dalseo-gu head and delivered to vulnerable residents including single-parent families, basic livelihood recipients and elderly people living alone.

"This campaign goes beyond celebrating our company's growth and history on our founding anniversary — it is a meaningful event through which our employees and the company come together to give back to the community," Kim Jin-myeong, L&F's head of HR, said. "The voluntary participation of our employees makes it all the more meaningful, and we will continue to carry out genuine acts of giving going forward."

As one of Daegu's leading companies, L&F has consistently pursued community engagement as a core value, running a range of social contribution programs. Since 2015, the company has organized and sponsored a briquette delivery service for low-income households and has since expanded its activities to include kimchi-making drives, a filial-piety volunteer day in Dalseo-gu and other employee-led initiatives.

Meanwhile, L&F has been diversifying its customer portfolio. Earlier this year in March, the company signed a mid-to-long-term supply agreement with Samsung SDI for lithium iron phosphate cathode materials worth about 1.6 trillion won ($1.12 billion), and more recently concluded a separate LFP cathode supply deal with US battery firm Core-Shell Technologies.
