Driver rams pedestrian, then asks: 'Want me to kill you again?'

Footage of a driver deliberately ramming a pedestrian and then taunting her with the words "Want me to kill you again?" has sparked public outrage.

According to JTBC's Sageon Banjang, a TV crime news program, the incident took place on a road in Wonju, Gangwon Province, on July 31. A witness identified only as A said he was waiting at a traffic signal when he saw the shocking scene unfold.

A said the vehicle ahead of him honked repeatedly near a crosswalk, apparently to get the attention of a woman in her 50s standing there. When the woman complained about the noise, the driver threatened her, saying, "Want me to kill you?"

The woman shot back, "Go ahead and try," at which point the driver accelerated his vehicle directly into her. A immediately ran over to check on the victim and then confronted the driver, demanding to know what he thought he was doing.

The driver showed no remorse. "She asked me to kill her, so I hit her," he said. "I'd do it again if she asked — want me to kill you again?" A said the driver did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The victim sustained injuries to both legs and her lower back and underwent surgery. After the incident, the driver's mother apologized, saying her son "has some mental health issues." A said he came forward to the program because he feared the attacker might escape serious punishment by claiming diminished mental capacity. "This is an attempted murder case," he said.
