Aekyung Industrial donates W5.3b worth of products to Seoul's vulnerable residents

Aekyung Industrial announced Friday that it held a product donation ceremony with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Community Chest of Korea Seoul chapter and the nonprofit Hope Sharing People to promote a culture of giving.

The company donated 5.3 billion won ($3.72 million) worth of daily necessities and personal care products — including laundry detergent, shampoo, toothpaste, cosmetics and feminine hygiene products — to the city. The items will be distributed to social welfare facilities, independent living centers and low-income households across Seoul.

Aekyung Industrial has carried out charitable activities for 15 consecutive years since launching a Seoul welfare support project called "Warm Companionship, Beautiful Sharing" with the Community Chest of Korea in 2012. Including this year's donation, the company has contributed a cumulative 61.9 billion won worth of daily necessities and cosmetics.

The ceremony, held Thursday at Seoul City Hall, was attended by Aekyung Industrial CEO Kim Sang-jun, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Community Chest of Korea Seoul chapter chairman Kim Jae-rok and Hope Sharing People chairman Kim Jeong-an.

"We will continue to carry out diverse corporate social responsibility activities that provide meaningful support to those in need, grounded in our corporate mission and management philosophy of 'love and respect,'" Kim Sang-jun said.
