Minister of Planning and Budget Park Hong-keun personally inspected the stability of the country's fiscal information systems and their cybersecurity frameworks Friday, calling for stronger personal data protection and enhanced cyber defenses. He also urged officials to stay on track with "Modoo's Finance," a public fiscal information platform scheduled to launch in December.
The Ministry of Planning and Budget said Park visited the Korea Fiscal Information Service on Friday, where he reviewed the operational status of the Digital Budget and Accounting System (dBrain) and the National Subsidy Management System (e-Naradoum), and inspected information security management at the agency's Personal Data Protection Center and Cyber Safety Center. The visit was arranged to conduct an on-site review of the fiscal information system's operational stability and personal data protection framework at the Korea Fiscal Information Service, a public institution under the ministry.
"Every step of managing national finances — funded by taxpayers' money — runs through dBrain, so its operational stability must never waver for even a moment," Park said.
He added that proactive security capabilities were more critical than ever as cyber threats grow increasingly sophisticated in the AI era. "dBrain holds vast amounts of personal data, and even minor lapses in management directly affect public trust, so we must further strengthen our personal data protection framework," he said.
Park also reviewed the progress of "Modoo's Finance," the public fiscal information platform under construction with a December launch target. The platform upgrades the existing "Open Finance" service by integrating fiscal data from the central government, local governments and the education sector, and adds an online fiscal museum and AI-powered features.
"It is important to make fiscal information transparently accessible so that any citizen can easily use it," Park said, urging officials to complete the build on schedule and without delay.
Park also visited the agency's 24-hour monitoring center, where he encouraged frontline staff and asked them to approach their work with a sense of mission as the people responsible for underpinning the nation's fiscal operations.
Meanwhile, the ministry said it plans to continue working with the Korea Fiscal Information Service to further strengthen the stable operation of fiscal information systems, personal data protection and information security management.
