Sanitation worker in his 60s killed after being struck by garbage truck in Seoul

A sanitation worker in his 60s was killed after being struck by a garbage collection truck while on duty in Seoul.

Hyehwa Police Station said it received a report around 3 a.m. Friday that a man in his 60s, identified only by the surname initial A, had been found collapsed in an alley in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

A garbage truck was found nearby, stopped against a wall.

A was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead.

Police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor believe the accident occurred while A was working alone and the vehicle began moving on its own. An investigation into the exact cause is underway.
