More than 2,000 households in Busan's Sasang-gu lost water service for six hours Saturday as a burst pipe disrupted supply during an ongoing heat wave.
Busan's waterworks authority said an aging 500-millimeter water main buried near a funeral home in Gamdong-dong, Sasang-gu, ruptured at around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Yonhap.
The authority cut off the water supply to carry out pipe replacement work, leaving about 2,300 nearby households without running water.
It completed the replacement and restored water service at around 11:40 a.m.
Sasang-gu sent an emergency text alert to residents at 9:58 a.m. Saturday, saying the city was working to restore service after water outages hit parts of Gwaebop-dong, Hakjang-dong and Gamdong-dong.
