Rep. Heo Jong-sik has been elected chair of the Democratic Party of Korea's Incheon chapter.
The Incheon chapter held its regular party convention Saturday at Incheon Namdong Gymnasium, where members chose Heo, who represents the Dong-gu and Michuhol-gu A district in Incheon, as the next chapter chair.
Heo topped the vote among rights-holding party members and national delegates, defeating former Rep. Lee Seong-man and Rep. Jeong Il-yeong.
"As chapter chair, I will build the most exemplary provincial chapter in the country," Heo said.
A two-term lawmaker, Heo will lead the Incheon chapter for a two-year term.
