Songpa-gu in Seoul is gearing up for a landmark cultural performance to sweep away the last of the summer heat.
The district announced it will host the "2026 Happy Summertime Concert & World Flamenco Festival" at Lotte Concert Hall on Aug. 25 at 5 p.m.
Organized by Songpa-gu and produced by the Songpa Cultural Foundation, the event is designed to offer residents a rich, high-caliber cultural experience. Staged at Lotte Concert Hall — renowned for its world-class acoustics — the concert promises to captivate audiences with spectacular production and vibrant, immersive sound.
The program is divided into two acts, each showcasing a distinct artistic flavor.
The first act features the World Flamenco Festival. Flamenco, one of Spain's most iconic performing arts, blends dance, song and instrumental music. Its passionate movement and distinctive rhythms earned it recognition as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010.
The act opens with "Ole Flamenco Korea," led by Sofia Yun (Yun Seon-a), which fuses Korean traditional dance with authentic flamenco, and the Fuego Dance Company, before top-tier masters from eight countries — including Spain, Taiwan and Egypt — take the stage to close out the global dance festival. Performing across approximately nine pieces, the artists will deliver a fierce and passionate showcase of flamenco at its finest.
The second act features Forestella, South Korea's premier crossover vocal group, celebrated for its powerful vocals. The quartet's four distinctly individual timbres, paired with Lotte Concert Hall's pristine acoustics, are expected to produce a premium live harmony that resonates across generations.
This exceptional lineup is offered entirely free of charge, exclusively for Songpa-gu residents. Registration opens Tuesday at 11 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis through Naver reservations.
