The National Pension Service's Four Major Social Insurance Information Linkage Center announced Monday that it will hold four sessions of its outreach workplace education program in major regions across the country — Busan, Seongnam, Suwon and Daegu — through October.
The program is designed to help small and medium-sized business owners better understand the national pension, national health insurance, and employment and industrial accident insurance systems, as well as how to use the related government websites, so they can more easily access the benefits and services available to them.
The sessions begin Saturday at BEXCO in Busan, followed by Sept. 3 at the Workers' General Welfare Center in Seongnam, Sept. 4 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Suwon, and Oct. 2 at EXCO in Daegu.
Each session will cover four topics: the national pension system, the national health insurance system, the employment and industrial accident insurance system, and how to use the four major social insurance website — including filing reports and obtaining certificates. Expert instructors from each insurance agency will lead the sessions with a focus on practical, real-world cases.
The program will expand one-on-one on-site consultations between instructors and participants, allowing attendees to ask specialists directly about difficulties and questions they encounter in running their businesses. Starting with this round of sessions, the program is also broadening its target audience to include university students and other young people.
Anyone wishing to attend can apply through the Four Major Social Insurance Information Linkage Center website under the outreach education registration section. Applications for each session must be submitted by the day before that session. Participants will receive a certificate of completion after finishing the course.
Jung Tae-gyu, the National Pension Service's pension director, said the first-half sessions confirmed strong demand from the field and demonstrated a measurable improvement in participants' understanding of the insurance systems. "In the second half of the year, we will continue running nationwide outreach sessions in Busan, Daegu, the greater Seoul area and beyond, so that more small business owners and young people can easily understand their four major insurance benefits and enjoy the rights they are entitled to," he said.
