Woman gives birth alone in OB-GYN clinic restroom; newborn in good condition

A woman in her 30s gave birth alone in a restroom at an obstetrics and gynecology clinic in Yeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.

According to Newsis and other outlets, a report came in Monday at around 4:19 p.m. that a pregnant woman had given birth unassisted in a restroom inside an OB-GYN clinic in Yeongju-dong, Yeongju.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, administered first aid to the mother and newborn, and transported them to a hospital at around 4:35 p.m.

The mother, a Yeongju resident in her 30s, delivered a baby girl — her first child.

Both are in good condition.

Meanwhile, fire department authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of the birth.
