SM Hi-Plus, a manufacturing and services affiliate of SM Group, signed an MOU with AI data analytics firm CP6 on Monday at SM Group's Sinchon headquarters in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, to jointly develop and commercialize next-generation mobility services, the company announced Tuesday.

Under the agreement, the two companies plan to combine mobility data from HIPLUS — SM Hi-Plus's dedicated Hi-Pass card mobile app — with CP6's AI analytics technology to maximize synergies in the mobility solutions sector.

Founded in March 2021, CP6 is a tech company specializing in the collection, analysis and application of AI and mobility data. This year, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport selected it as a "sapling company," a designation for startups the ministry nurtures and supports to foster an innovative industrial ecosystem.

The MOU outlines five collaboration agendas to be pursued in phases: in-vehicle personal data protection, advancement of driver management systems for both conventional and autonomous vehicles, safety management for commercial vehicles such as trucks, and AI analysis-based traffic accident fault determination.

Of these, the two companies agreed to prioritize developing an "in-vehicle personal data deletion solution" targeting the used-car and rental-car markets. The plan is to integrate CP6's "ACAT Privacy" into the HIPLUS platform, enabling roughly 6 million Hi-Pass customers nationwide to safely delete driver personal data stored in vehicle systems when selling or returning a vehicle.

The companies also plan to advance their solution lineup with "ACAT Driver," a feature within the HIPLUS app that monitors and alerts both conventional and autonomous vehicle owners to vehicle conditions and driving risk factors. They intend to expand the AI-based traffic accident analysis program — the "AI Fault Determination Solution" — beyond individual and corporate customers to eventually connect insurers and investigative agencies as well.

"With CP6's government-backed data analytics capabilities meeting HIPLUS's platform operating expertise, I am confident that strong synergies will emerge in areas such as driver personal data protection and safe driving," SM Hi-Plus CEO Ahn Byung-hyun said. "Starting with the swift commercialization of the personal data deletion solution, we will consistently roll out smart and innovative mobility care services that every customer can experience."

Meanwhile, SM Hi-Plus recently introduced an "AI call bot" service that handles customer inquiries around the clock, 365 days a year.

The service operates as an AI contact center built on Amazon Connect, Amazon Web Services' cloud-based customer center solution. When a customer calls, the AI call bot checks whether highway Hi-Pass tolls are outstanding and, if necessary, guides the caller through the payment process.
