Free nail care store for workers with disabilities to open at GTX-A Suseo Station

Korea National Railway is set to open another branch of its free nail care store, Seomseomosu, at GTX-A Suseo Station as part of its initiative to create jobs for people with disabilities using idle space at railway stations.

To that end, Korea National Railway signed an MOU with SG Rail Co. and the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled on Tuesday.

Seomseomosu is a public-interest employment model that uses idle space at railway stations to create jobs for workers with disabilities while offering free nail care services to passengers. Since 2019, 12 locations have opened at railway stations across the country, including Daejeon Station, generating jobs for 55 workers with disabilities.

Under the agreement, the three organizations plan to cooperate on providing and supporting the use of idle space within stations, selecting businesses to participate in the project, creating a stable working environment for employees with disabilities, and offering consulting on disability employment.

Lee An-ho, acting president of Korea National Railway, said he expects the Seomseomosu store at GTX-A Suseo Station to give workers with disabilities broader opportunities for social participation while offering passengers a unique amenity. "We will continue to expand various co-prosperity projects using idle space at railway stations so that we can enhance the public value of railway facilities and grow together with socially vulnerable groups," he added.
