Song Won-geun announces marriage: 'I've finally shed my bachelor label — I'm truly happy'

Actor Song Won-geun, 44, who began his career as a singer, has personally announced his upcoming marriage.

On Tuesday, Song shared a handwritten letter on his Instagram, writing that he had "met someone I want to spend my life with" and was "about to start a new life with that person."

"Today I write this because there is something I want to share with you — something I approach with a little caution, yet also want you to hear before anyone else," he wrote. "You have always been with me through the precious moments of my journey as an actor, so I wanted to be the first to tell you this news directly."

He added, "Before I knew it, I had reached the age where the word 'bachelor' seemed to fit me perfectly — but now I get to shed that label. I find it a little surreal myself, and above all, I am truly happy."

Song also expressed gratitude to his fans, writing, "Looking back, the reason I have been able to walk this path as an actor is because of you, who have cheered me on with unwavering support. Standing at this new beginning called marriage, the words 'I am happy' alone feel insufficient to convey how grateful I am for everything you have given me."

He went on to say, "Marriage is a new beginning in my life, but I will walk forward even more diligently — continuing to learn more, reflect more deeply, and meet you through good work and good performances, just as I have until now."

Song made his debut in 2000 as a member of the group OPPA. After a stint as a solo singer, he was cast as the lead character Lee Shin in the 2010 musical "Goong" and shifted his focus to the stage.

He has since appeared in major musicals every year, including "Finding Mr. Destiny," "Thrill Me," "Guys and Dolls," "Daddy Long Legs," "The Story of My Life," "King Arthur," "The Phantom of the Opera," "Red Book" and "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder."

Song has also built a presence on the small screen, appearing in the drama series "Princess Aurora," "Apgujeong Midnight Sun," "Tomorrow Also Victory," "The Bride of Habaek 2017" and "Babel."
