Seoul's Jungnang-gu district received Seoul Metropolitan Government approval Thursday for an urban public housing complex project near Sagajeong Station.
The approval marks the second urban public housing complex plan to receive the green light in the district. Officials expect the completed project to expand the housing supply in Jungnang-gu and improve residential conditions in the area.
The project will be built on a 28,138.7-square-meter site at 524-1 Myeongmok 7-dong, with a total floor area of 212,054.59 square meters and a floor-area ratio of 499.26 percent. The complex will rise five floors below ground and 35 floors above, comprising 869 publicly sold units, 130 profit-sharing units, 221 public rental units and 80 donated-lease rental units, for a total of 1,300 households. Construction is set to begin in 2029, with completion targeted for 2033.
The district completed the formation of residents' representative councils for all five urban public housing complex sites under development in January. Building on the complex plan approval granted last December for the project near Yongma Tunnel, the district plans to accelerate progress by selecting contractors and launching design competitions for all project sites before the end of this year.
"We expect this approval of the urban public housing complex plan near Sagajeong Station to significantly strengthen Jungnang-gu's housing supply foundation," district mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said. "We will continue to push forward without delay on various housing supply initiatives — including urban public housing complexes and Moa Town projects — to create a stable residential environment."
