E-mart's 'Goraeit Festa' offers halibut sashimi at half price, eggs at 6,280 won

E-mart said it will hold its "Goraeit Festa" from Friday through Monday, offering up to 50 percent discounts on Jeju-caught halibut sashimi, eggs and other fresh products.

Jeju-caught halibut sashimi will be sold at half price. "Halibut sashimi" and "halibut sashimi fillet" will be available for 14,990 won ($11) and 4,990 won, respectively, for customers who accumulate Shinsegae points and pay with a participating card. Although halibut market prices have risen recently, E-mart secured more than 50 tons of supply — over four times its usual volume — through a partnership with Bada Mokjang, a contract fish farm on Jeju Island.

Discounts will also apply to popular fresh foods including Korean beef, abalone, eggs and samgyeopsal. The "Gyeolgoun Soonamso" Korean beef sirloin and Wando live abalone will be sold at 50 percent off for Shinsegae point members. Domestic "Fresh Eggs" (30-count), whose prices have become a growing burden for consumers, will be offered at a special price of 6,280 won per carton — with 200,000 cartons secured, more than five times the usual stock. Purchases are limited to one carton per customer.

Deli and ready-to-eat items will also be discounted. "Old-style whole fried chicken" made with domestic chilled chicken will receive a 1,000-won discount for Shinsegae point members, with an additional 2,000 won in e-money rewards. An "octopus trio set" — comprising domestic octopus, pork belly bossam and aged kimchi — will be sold at 8,980 won, a 3,000-won reduction, for customers paying with a participating card.

Popular wines, beers and beverages will also be available at special prices. Nine popular wine varieties, including Molina Gran Reserva Syrah, will be sold at 50 percent off in the 10,000-won range, and 14 varieties of imported beer will be offered at 9,900 won for a six-pack. More than 150 daily essentials from Unilever, Aekyung and Johnson & Johnson will be sold at 50 percent off when two or more items are purchased.

The Goraeit Festa will also run on SSG.com and E-mart Everyday. Customers shopping at the E-mart Mall on SSG.com can access the same discounted prices on key Goraeit Festa products — including fresh and processed foods — as in physical stores. Shoppers can also receive their orders on a preferred date and time through the "SSG Delivery" service. E-mart Everyday will offer up to 50 percent off on Yeongam figs, fresh green apples, blueberries and oranges.

"Record-breaking heat this summer has increased the financial burden on consumers, so we expanded the Goraeit Festa to two rounds in August and strengthened the price benefits that customers can actually feel," said Jeong Yang-o, head of E-mart's strategic marketing division.
