Daejeon's Bread Bus Tour expands to two routes

Daejeon's Bread Bus Tour, a city-run service that takes visitors to the city's signature bakeries, has been revamped and expanded to two routes, the city announced Wednesday. A summer "Bread-cation Event" will also run throughout August.

The city has moved away from the previous loop-style operation to a new format in which buses stop at designated bakeries in sequence, giving passengers 40 to 50 minutes at each stop to browse, buy bread and explore the surrounding area at their own pace.

Both routes depart from and return to Daejeon Travel Lounge every weekend. Route A visits Kkudevang Bakers House, Le Pain 99-1, Yeon Seonheum Bakery and California Bakery — in that order. Route B calls at Mongsim Hannam University Branch, Slow Bread, Cold Butter Bake Shop and Hare Hare. The city said the featured bakeries were chosen based on customer surveys, online search volume and ease of access between stops.

To mark the relaunch, the city is running a limited August "Bread-cation Event" for summer visitors making a bakery pilgrimage to Daejeon. The first 1,000 passengers during the event period will receive a reusable tote bag, and each rider will also get two ice packs to keep their purchases fresh during the journey.

The city said it plans to continue refining the Bread Bus Tour based on rider feedback and to develop it into a flagship tourism attraction representing Daejeon.

"The revamped Bread Bus Tour makes it easier than ever to explore Daejeon's diverse bakery scene," said Park Seung-won, director of the city's culture, arts and tourism bureau. "With the Bread-cation Event lined up for August, we hope many people will come to Daejeon and enjoy a special bakery pilgrimage."
