Korea Investment & Securities announced Wednesday that it is running a share-accumulation event for customers of BanKIS, its online stock-trading service, through Oct. 3.

The share-accumulation service lets customers consistently buy shares in stocks of their choosing at a set frequency and amount, allowing them to start investing with small sums without the pressure of timing the market or committing a large lump sum.

The event is structured around three tracks: "Accumulating for Myself," "Accumulating for My Child," and "Accumulating Together as a Family."

Under the first track, 500 customers who complete 10 or more share-accumulation transactions during the event period will be selected by lottery to receive a 30,000 won ($21) cash reward. A separate lottery will award 50,000 won each to 500 customers who complete at least two transactions with a cumulative total of 500,000 won or more. Both rewards can be received simultaneously.

A separate benefit is available for minor children. The first 5,000 applicants who sign up through an account held in a child's name will receive an immediate 10,000 won investment support credit. The credit can be used to set up at least one share-accumulation order, and any unused portion will be automatically reclaimed 30 days after issuance.

Families who participate together can earn additional rewards. When both a minor child and a legal guardian each meet the event's share-accumulation conditions, 100 pairs — 200 people in total — will be selected by lottery, with each parent and child receiving 10,000 won.

Customers who qualify for all applicable tracks can receive up to 90,000 won in total rewards for adults and up to 100,000 won for minors.

Eligible assets include domestic individual shares, ETFs and fractional shares of US stocks. Starting Aug. 29, whole-share purchases of US stocks will also be included in the share-accumulation service.

"The share-accumulation service lets customers build a consistent investment habit by starting small, without any burden," a company official said. "We hope this event will connect individual investment experience to financial and economic education for children and long-term asset building for families."

Korea Investment & Securities plans to continue expanding the share-accumulation service by linking it to financial and economic education content for minors. The company is also broadening its customer outreach through a university student ambassador program and "HanToo Battle," a domestic stock investment competition.
