Individuals, groups with 2-plus years of civic or cultural contributions eligible
Siheung City, led by Mayor Lim Byeong-taek, will accept nominations for the 2026 Siheung Citizen Award from Thursday through Aug. 31 to recognize individuals and organizations that have contributed to the local community and regional culture.
The Siheung Citizen Award is the city's highest honor, presented to individuals and groups that have fostered community spirit, advanced citizen welfare and enhanced the city's standing.
Eligible nominees must have made a clear contribution to local community or regional cultural development for at least two years. Individuals who have continuously resided in Siheung or maintained a place of business — including a workplace — for at least three years as of the announcement date, as well as organizations based within the city's jurisdiction, may be nominated.
Nominations may be submitted by heads of city departments, dong office chiefs, heads of relevant local institutions, or through a joint recommendation signed by at least 20 residents.
Applications can be filed in person at the community administrative welfare center in the nominee's residential dong, submitted by mail to the Administrative Affairs Division on the second floor of Siheung City Hall, or sent by email.
The city will conduct an eligibility review and on-site verification before a merit review committee selects up to 20 final recipients. The awards ceremony is planned in conjunction with the opening of Siheung Arts Center on Nov. 13.
"We hope residents and organizations will show strong interest and participate so that those who have quietly dedicated themselves to the community and regional culture can be widely recognized through this award," said Kim Jae-seong, head of Siheung City's administrative bureau.
Further details are available on the Siheung City Hall website or by contacting the Administrative Affairs Division directly.
