Gyeonggi small-business agency holds energy-saving campaign at Suwon Station

The Gyeonggi Small Business and Market Promotion Agency held a summer energy-saving campaign near Suwon Station on Tuesday ahead of Energy Day on Aug. 22, the agency announced Wednesday. The event aimed to advance carbon neutrality and improve energy efficiency.

The agency signed an MOU with the Korea Energy Agency to support energy efficiency improvements for small business owners and has been running energy-saving campaigns around Energy Day since last year.

This year, the agency joined forces with the Korea Energy Agency's Gyeonggi regional office, Gyeonggi Province, the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency's Gyeonggi regional office, the Korea Gas Safety Corp. and the Korea Electrical Safety Corp. to spread awareness about energy conservation. Participants distributed energy-saving tips along with energy fans, biodegradable wet wipes and bamboo toothbrushes.

Under the slogan "The Age of Energy Caution — See Energy," the campaign promoted five practices: raising air conditioner temperatures by 1 degree Celsius, using products with a top energy-efficiency rating, unplugging devices not in use, switching to high-efficiency lighting and turning off unused lights, and taking public transportation.

An integrity campaign targeting local residents was also held alongside the event, pledging transparent administration in line with public expectations.

"Responding to the climate crisis and saving energy starts with small everyday actions," said Kim Min-cheol, head of the agency. "We will continue to work to ensure that all of our employees actively participate in energy conservation and that a culture of practice spreads throughout the community."
