South Korea, India customs authorities hold high-level talks to boost bilateral cooperation

South Korea and India held high-level talks between their customs authorities to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including smoother customs clearance for exporters.

Han Min, director general of the Korea Customs Service's International Customs Cooperation Bureau, met with Vivek Chaturvedi, chairman of India's Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs — a vice-ministerial-level post — in New Delhi on Tuesday for a bilateral meeting focused on deepening cooperation between the two countries.

During the talks, Han conveyed specific cases in which Korean companies operating in India have faced difficulties during the customs clearance process and requested India's attention and support. The two sides also discussed plans to strengthen future cooperation, including inviting Indian customs officials to training programs in Korea and holding the fourth Korea-India customs chiefs' meeting.

India is one of the countries where Korean exporters most frequently encounter customs clearance difficulties, making the high-level meeting significant as a step toward building a stronger cooperative framework to address those challenges.

"India is an important cooperation partner in the Asia-Pacific region, and we plan to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation so that our companies face no obstacles when exporting," Han said.
