The Professional Billiards Association Team League's second round got underway in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
The PBA, led by President Yoon Young-dal, held the opening ceremony for the "Welcome Savings Bank PBA Team League Hwaseong Special City Tour 2026-2027" on Wednesday at the Hwaseong General Sports Town indoor gymnasium in Hwaseong.
PBA Vice President Jang Sang-jin attended the ceremony alongside Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun, Hwaseong Sports Council Chairman Park Jong-seon, Gyeonggi Province Sports Council Chairman Lee Won-seong and Billiards TV Vice Chairman Jo Hyeon-jae.
In his welcoming remarks, Mayor Jeong said he warmly welcomed the players and billiards fans from across the country. "We will work harder to promote the appeal of professional billiards and broaden its reach so that citizens can enjoy the sport as part of their everyday lives," he said.
The second round will run for nine days from Wednesday's opening ceremony. The PBA Team League is scheduled to determine its season champion through five rounds and a postseason running through February next year. Woori Financial Capital won the opening round held in July, becoming the first team to secure a postseason berth.
The PBA Team League champion will receive prize money of 100 million won ($70,700), while the regular-season round MVP will earn 1 million won and the postseason MVP 5 million won. Starting this season, the round winner will also receive 10 million won.
