A three-artist exhibition, "Naege Meomun Siseon (The Gaze That Lingered on Me)," featuring works by Lee Ji-woo, Hong Su-jeong and Hwang Ho-seok, is on view through Aug. 27 at Hidden M Gallery in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The show explores what it means to look at a single subject for a long time, and how that sustained gaze shapes sensation and memory to build a new world within the language of painting.
The three artists each turn their attention to different subjects — landscape, living things and the everyday — yet none of their work stops at mere representation. Instead, they layer onto the canvas the emotions, time and traces of existence that only become visible where the gaze has lingered, inviting viewers to perceive the familiar world anew.
