North Gyeongsang education office unveils 'Education 2030' vision

The North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education held a ceremony Thursday in Pohang to proclaim its "North Gyeongsang Education 2030 Great Transformation" vision, drawing more than 1,000 students, parents, teachers and community members to the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education Culture Center.

The event was organized to share the new vision and policy direction for North Gyeongsang education from 2027 to 2030. The office unveiled "Warm North Gyeongsang Education That Nurtures My Dreams" as its guiding vision.

The office set "In My Own Way, Anew, Together" as its educational motto and identified five core policy directions: AI transformation, personalized growth, safe schools, regional coexistence and empathetic administration.

Key priority initiatives include programs titled "As You Will, As You Dream," human-centered AI education, a hyper-connected North Gyeongsang school network, a dedicated body for protecting educational activities, and a North Gyeongsang Education Goes Global initiative.

The ceremony looked back on the changes and achievements of North Gyeongsang education in recent years and offered a preview of future classrooms through an open lesson called "A 2030 Classroom, Visited Early."

The event closed with a digital joint signing ceremony involving students, parents, teachers and community representatives, reaffirming the education community's shared commitment to building the future together.

North Gyeongsang Superintendent of Education Im Jong-sik said the transformation represents "a new departure for connecting questions from the field to policy and action," adding that the office would "provide careful support so that each and every student can discover their own talents and dreams and grow in their own way."

Im said the vision and commitments proclaimed Thursday would be "specifically reflected in the 2027 key work plan, budget, organizational structure and performance management, so that they do not remain mere declarations but lead to tangible changes that can be felt at schools."
