OpenAI has replaced its chief revenue officer after less than a year in the role, even as the company presses ahead with a major initial public offering.
The company announced Thursday that Dali Rajic, formerly president and chief operating officer of cloud security firm Wiz, would become its new CRO.
Rajic is a veteran sales executive who has led revenue organizations at major IT companies. His appointment means Dennis Dresser — a former Slack CEO whom OpenAI recruited from Salesforce last December — is leaving after just eight months on the job.
OpenAI said Dresser "has decided to leave OpenAI to pursue new opportunities after a transition period."
In an internal memo he shared on LinkedIn, Dresser said he was "working with President Greg Brockman on a smooth transition following discussions about the company's future needs."
Brockman said of the leadership change that "the way technology is being adopted is changing rapidly," adding that Rajic would "translate the experience we've built into repeatable execution so AI can be broadly useful for people and businesses."
OpenAI filed a confidential IPO application with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in June and is working through the listing process. Unlike rival Anthropic, OpenAI has focused its marketing largely on individual consumers, leaving it with relatively weaker enterprise sales — a segment seen as a higher-margin revenue driver. That gap has weighed on OpenAI's valuation relative to Anthropic, despite OpenAI's first-mover advantage.
OpenAI has repeatedly stated its goal of growing enterprise sales to match consumer revenue by the end of this year.
The CRO change is the latest in a string of senior departures at OpenAI. Fiji Simo, the company's No. 2 executive who served as CEO of its business division, resigned last month to seek treatment for a chronic illness, while former COO Brad Lightcap announced his departure on Tuesday.
