LG Display launches online 'Tech Academy' to build technology-driven culture

LG Display announced Friday the launch of an integrated online education platform called the Tech Academy, designed to support employee development.

The Tech Academy operates as a tailored training system organized into nine division-specific colleges — five covering research and development and four covering manufacturing and production. Each college offers a growth roadmap outlining job-specific work experience, required competencies and development directions, along with integrated training programs calibrated to different levels of expertise.

The platform is part of a broader strategy to embed a technology-driven organizational culture and strengthen the company's future technical competitiveness. It was driven by the belief that close collaboration between research and development and manufacturing and production, along with the steady accumulation of technical capabilities, is essential for sustained innovation in advanced industries.

Through the Tech Academy, LG Display will systematize the experience and know-how accumulated on the ground into organizational technical assets. The platform also supports employees in deepening job expertise and building technical capabilities, with the aim of creating a virtuous cycle in which individual growth translates directly into the organization's competitive edge.

The platform also features AI-powered personalized development support. Using generative AI, it automatically produces individual growth research notes by analyzing each employee's HR data, while providing leaders with insights and interview guides to help them develop their teams. Employees can then review competency development directions and tailored training information based on job-specific growth roadmaps.

In addition, the platform includes networking functions to encourage cross-organizational technical exchange and collaboration. It provides information on the activities and areas of expertise of in-house technical expert groups — including "research and specialist fellows" and "technology sponsors" — so employees can seek technical advice and support from specialists in the fields they need.

LG Display plans to continue expanding an organizational culture that recognizes technical challenges and achievements, using that foundation to drive on-site innovation and strengthen its future technical competitiveness in global markets.
