Naked woman carrying bladed weapon detained in Daejeon city center

A woman in her 60s was arrested after roaming naked through central Daejeon while carrying a bladed weapon.

According to police Friday, the Daejeon Jungbu Police Station is investigating the woman, identified only by the surname initial A, on charges of carrying a weapon in a public place and aggravated intimidation. She was detained Thursday.

A is accused of wandering the Daesa-dong area of Jung-gu, Daejeon, without clothing and brandishing a bladed weapon around 8 p.m. Thursday, causing alarm among residents. She is also suspected of entering a restaurant and striking a table with the weapon.

Officers responding to a citizen report arrested her on the spot. She reportedly kicked at the air and resisted during the arrest.

Police said they are pursuing emergency psychiatric hospitalization, noting that normal communication with A was not possible. They added they may seek an arrest warrant if deemed necessary.
