Three drivers separated by 5 points as Formula E heads to London finale

Three drivers are separated by just five points. Formula E Season 12, for which Hankook Tire & Technology is the exclusive racing tire supplier, heads to London for its final two races to crown this season's champion.

Hankook Tire & Technology announced Friday that the 2026 Hankook London E-Prix will be held in London on Saturday and Sunday (local time). The event is a doubleheader covering Rounds 16 and 17 of Season 12 and serves as the season finale where both the drivers' and teams' champions will be decided. It is also the third title-sponsored race of the season to carry the Hankook name.

The drivers' championship battle is drawing the most attention. Jake Dennis of Andretti Formula E leads with 146 points, followed by Mitch Evans of Jaguar TCS Racing at 144 and Pascal Wehrlein of Porsche Formula E at 141. With only five points separating first and third, the standings could flip depending on the outcome of the two London races.

The ExCeL London circuit ranks among the most distinctive tracks in Formula E. Stretching about 2.08 kilometers with 20 corners, it sends cars alternating between the interior of the exhibition hall and outdoor sections. The track is defined by rapid changes not only in surface texture and elevation but also in lighting conditions between indoors and out.

Cars exit from the relatively smooth indoor surface onto the open road and then re-enter the building, forcing tires to adapt to sharply different environments in quick succession. With corners packed tightly along a short course and repeated bursts of hard acceleration and braking, grip, braking performance and durability are expected to be key variables in the race.

Hankook will supply its official Formula E racing tire, the iON Race, for the season finale as well. The iON Race is an electric-vehicle-dedicated racing tire developed specifically for the GEN3 Evo race car currently used in Formula E.

The GEN3 Evo reaches a top speed of 322 kilometers per hour and accelerates from a standstill to 100 kph in 1.86 seconds. The intense and repeated acceleration and braking demands place a premium on the tire's grip performance and thermal management capabilities.

Hankook will also operate a fan village at the venue, where it plans to display products from its electric-vehicle tire brand iON alongside the iON Race tires supplied to the actual Formula E cars.

Beyond Formula E, Hankook has been expanding its presence in motorsport. The company also serves as the exclusive tire supplier for the FIA World Rally Championship. At Rally Finland, which concluded Aug. 2, it supplied the Dynapro R213 rally tire for high-speed gravel stages and racing through heavy rain.

Hankook applies driving data gathered from Formula E, the WRC and other motorsport competitions to the development of high-performance and electric-vehicle tires. The company will supply the iON Race to all competing cars in the final two races of the season, bringing Formula E Season 12 to a close.
