LG Group has offered the first glimpse of its upcoming bipedal humanoid robot, ahead of a planned unveiling in the first quarter of next year.
LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo met Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on Thursday (local time) at Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, presenting him with a miniature model of LG's bipedal humanoid robot.
The two signed a memorandum of understanding covering strategic business cooperation across three areas — physical AI, AI infrastructure and mobility — before posing together for a photo.
Both leaders held up the miniature of the humanoid robot set to debut in the first quarter of next year, stoking market anticipation. Koo and Huang also signed the box by hand, side by side.
The back of the box listed the key technologies and components each company will contribute to the humanoid robot: an actuator from LG Electronics, a battery from LG Energy Solution, a multi-sensing module from LG Innotek, and a curved display for humanoid robots from LG Display.
The actuator serves as the joints and muscles that move the robot's arms and legs. An essential component for precise movement, LG Electronics has set up a pilot production line at its factory in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, and begun initial production.
LG Innotek, which has expertise in camera module manufacturing, plans to supply its multi-sensing module — effectively the robot's "eyes" — to the LG humanoid robot. The module integrates multiple sensors into a single unit, enabling the robot to process visual information and perform real-time control.
The robot's face will feature an LG Display OLED panel designed to render natural curved surfaces. LG Display made its domestic debut of the plastic OLED display targeting the humanoid market at the K-Display 2026 exhibition last month.
LG Display's P-OLED is thin and lightweight, and operates reliably in extreme temperatures ranging from minus 30 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius. Already used in vehicles and IT devices, the company is now targeting humanoid robots as its next market.
LG Energy Solution plans to supply high-capacity batteries designed to extend the operating time of humanoid robots.
Nvidia will also commit its full suite of robotics software capabilities to support LG's first bipedal humanoid robot, including Jetson Thor (a robot computing platform), Isaac GR00T (a robot automation platform) and Halos for Robotics (an integrated robot safety system).
