A Russian national accused of taking an unconscious woman from outside a club to his lodgings and raping her has been handed over to prosecutors in custody.
The Seoul Mapo Police Station on Friday forwarded the case of a Russian man in his 20s, identified only as A, to prosecutors on charges of quasi-rape and abduction with intent to commit sexual assault.
A is accused of raping a Mongolian woman in her 20s, identified as B, at a lodging facility near Hongdae in Mapo-gu, Seoul, in the early hours of July 16. The two had no prior acquaintance, investigators said.
A, who was traveling in South Korea at the time, allegedly found B asleep outside a club after she had been drinking, then put her in a taxi and took her to where he was staying.
Police said they are continuing to investigate whether A committed any additional offenses.
