Man in ICU after falling while fleeing assault on ex-girlfriend at motel

A man in his 30s who beat his former girlfriend with a blunt object at a motel and fled the scene has been taken into custody.

The Bundang Police Station in Gyeonggi Province has booked the suspect, identified only as A, on charges of attempted murder and is investigating the case, according to Yonhap.

A is accused of striking his former girlfriend, identified as B, on the head and other parts of her body multiple times with a blunt object at a motel in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, on Wednesday afternoon with intent to kill her.

A witness who heard B screaming called police, and officers who responded tracked A's movements after the attack using nearby CCTV footage.

During the search, police found A collapsed with serious injuries in front of a nearby building and transported him to a hospital.

A is currently in an intensive care unit with a femur fracture and other injuries. He is believed to have fallen while jumping between buildings during his escape.

Police applied the attempted murder charge on the grounds that A had prepared the blunt weapon in advance, indicating premeditated intent to kill. Investigators plan to look into the exact circumstances of the incident and A's motive once his condition improves.
