'No excuses, just sorry': Jennie becomes last Blackpink member to apologize over 10th-anniversary controversy

Blackpink member Jennie has apologized over the group's 10th-anniversary fan event controversy.

On Monday, Jennie posted a message on fan communication platform Weverse, saying she had been deeply upset that she was unable to have a proper conversation with Blink — the group's fandom name — during the 10th-anniversary celebrations. "I wanted to wait until after the final scheduled festival performance to post this, as I felt my feelings would come across better that way," she wrote.

"Over the past 10 years, you have given me precious moments I could never experience again," Jennie said. "It was the love that Blink shared with us at every moment that allowed us all to grow and envision a bigger future."

She added that on a day that should have been filled only with celebration, leaving each other with regrets was something she could only be sorry for, with no room for excuses. "Blink has been the greatest blessing and love for us in Blackpink," she wrote. "I'm sorry for showing an immature side, and I want to say a sincere thank you for the past 10 years."

Jennie also said she holds their bond close in the deepest part of her heart. "I send happiness and endless gratitude to everyone again," she wrote. "I was even more grateful that you were with us for the 10th anniversary. I will not forget what I have learned from the time we've shared, and I will be a Jennie who continues to deliver love to you."

On Aug. 8, Blackpink held a fan event at the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to mark their 10th debut anniversary. Despite rumors ahead of the event that some members might not attend, all four showed up — but fans subsequently raised complaints about inadequate preparations and limited interaction time. Following apologies from Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa, Jennie became the last of the four members to offer a heartfelt apology and words of gratitude.
