Actor Kim Jung-hwa has opened up about caring for her husband, Yoo Eun-sung, as he battles a brain tumor.
A video titled "'Married within a month?' — Kim Jung-hwa and Yoo Eun-sung's first meeting" was posted Monday on the YouTube channel "Lee Sung-mi's Can't Leave," featuring the couple as guests.
When host Lee Sung-mi asked whether she was "nursing a sick patient," Kim replied with a lightness that belied the difficulty: "I'm a professional caregiver."
Yoo gave an update on his health, saying, "The diagnosis is a brain tumor — a low-grade glioma. The good news is that there is a slowly growing glioma in the frontal lobe, and it has currently stopped growing."
He added that when he visited the hospital last February, the doctor told him to stop treatment for now and come back in five years.
Lee, listening with concern, said, "From a wife's perspective, it must feel just like a time bomb."
Kim agreed with the analogy. "He's living with an illness in his head," she said. "It has stopped for now, but if something triggers it to start moving again, it could be the end."
Kim and Yoo married in 2013 and have two sons together.
Yoo has been consistently undergoing treatment since announcing his brain tumor diagnosis in 2023.
