Export-Import Bank of Korea donates W100m to Colombia earthquake relief

The Export-Import Bank of Korea said Tuesday it donated 100 million won ($70,700) to the Korean Red Cross to support displaced residents affected by a recent earthquake in Colombia.

The funds will go toward emergency relief supplies and on-the-ground support for displaced residents in the affected areas.

"We hope this contribution offers a small measure of comfort and assistance to those who have lost their homes and livelihoods to a sudden natural disaster," a bank official said. "We will continue to actively participate in relief efforts whenever international disasters occur."

Colombia was struck by a magnitude-7.4 earthquake followed by a series of aftershocks, leaving more than 50,000 people displaced and causing widespread damage.

Meanwhile, the bank extended a $1 billion loan to Glencore, one of the world's leading diversified natural resources companies, and signed a policy agreement under which Korean companies will receive copper supplies from Glencore during the loan period.
