Ulleung-gun in North Gyeongsang Province is accepting nominations for its 2026 Civilian Award and Honorary Residency Certificate through Sept. 13, the county announced Wednesday.
Heads of local institutions and organizations, as well as township and village chiefs, may nominate candidates for the Civilian Award. Nominations backed by at least 30 resident signatures are also accepted. Up to two individuals may be selected, and the award may also be given to organizations.
The Honorary Residency Certificate is open to foreigners, overseas Koreans and residents of other local governments who have made significant contributions to the development of Ulleung-gun. The county chief may submit nominations, or residents may do so through a petition signed by at least 100 county residents aged 19 or older.
Those wishing to submit a nomination must complete a nomination form, a record of achievements and supporting documentation, and submit them to the general affairs division of the Ulleung-gun county office or to a local township or village office.

All nominations will undergo document review and a fact-finding probe before being assessed by the Civilian Award deliberation committee.
Honorary Residency Certificate nominees require approval by the Ulleung County Council before a final decision is made. Both the Civilian Award presentation and the Honorary Residency Certificate ceremony are scheduled for the Ulleung County Day event on Oct. 25.
