Ko Ji-yong, a former member of the K-pop group Sechs Kies who recently revealed he had divorced, has expressed a deep longing for his son.
In the early hours of Wednesday, Ko posted a photo on his social media with the caption: "Always miss you, my baby boy."
The photo showed Ko taking a selfie with his son.
Ko had disclosed on July 29 that he divorced two years ago. He married family medicine specialist Heo Yang-im in 2013 and the couple had a son the following year. In 2016, the family appeared on the KBS parenting variety show "Superman Is Back," presenting a picture of domestic happiness — making the divorce news a shock to many fans. Custody of the son went to Heo.
Ko said he had kept the divorce private because he "wanted to protect our son so he could fully come to terms with the situation and grow up in a stable environment."
"The divorce was a decision we made out of mutual respect for each other's paths and to fulfill our responsibilities as adults," Ko said. "Our son understands the new relationship between his mom and dad, and he is now doing well and living stably. I will continue to do my best as a father, and although we have parted as a couple, we support each other and are both doing well."
