Every Friday evening in September, the plaza at Mapo-gu Office will transform into an outdoor movie theater for families.
Mapo-gu is launching the "Ongajok Yageumyageum Cinema," a family outdoor film series, and is now accepting registrations on a first-come, first-served basis.
The series uses a large media canvas installed on the exterior wall of the Mapo-gu Office building to screen films. The name "Yageumyageum" plays on "yageum," meaning "night," to evoke the idea of savoring a movie with family each Friday night.
All titles were selected for family audiences. Opening night on Sept. 4 will feature The King's Warden, this year's blockbuster that has surpassed 10 million admissions.
The second screening, on Sept. 11, will bring Spider-Man: No Way Home, a favorite among children. The final screening on Sept. 18 will close the series with Aladdin, celebrated for its fantastical story and music.
Screenings begin at 7 p.m., with 150 participants admitted per showing.
Before each screening, families can enjoy face painting and caricature sessions for children, along with performances including tap dance, magic and jazz at the plaza.
Registration is available by scanning the QR code posted on the Mapo-gu Office website.
